Trauma-Informed Physiotherapy

Gina is trained in a relational form of psychodynamic psychotherapy known as the Conversational Model. This approach places an emphasis on the importance of the relationship between the therapist and the client. Through a safe, supportive and nurturing relationship, we can all heal and grow. This model incorporates concepts from attachment theory, trauma theory, neuroscience and self-psychology, all of which inform Gina’s trauma-informed approach to physiotherapy.

Gina takes a deeply empathic approach placing respect and genuine connection at the heart of your care. We recognize that healing from chronic pain and complex conditions involves more than just treating the body. Your experiences, your memories, your emotions, and the wiring of your nervous system all play a role in how pain is felt and managed. This is kept in mind in every session.

A trauma-informed physiotherapist creates a safe and collaborative space where you’re truly heard and supported. Gina will take the time to build trust, work at your pace and will respond to your unique needs with compassion and understanding. Together, we will explore the connection between your physical symptoms and emotional experiences, and will aim to help you feel more in tune with your body, reduce anxiety and unhelpful protective mechanisms, and restore confidence in movement.

Whether you're living with long-term pain, recovering from trauma, or navigating a complex condition, Gina will never forget the deep privilege it is to have her clients share their stories and experiences. She ensures that in every session you feel her genuine care and respect, and her desire to support you on your journey of recovery.
